Arthur M. Michaelson, Esq.

Arthur Michaelson joined the firm as of counsel in August, 2014. Previously, he served as of counsel to Hofheimer Gartlir & Gross, LLP for thirty (30) years. He serves as general or special counsel to publicly- and privately-held companies. In this capacity, he provides a full range of legal services including simple and complex agreements of all kinds, mergers and acquisitions and purchase and sale of assets. He frequently serves his clients in an advisory capacity, providing assistance in dispute resolution, structuring complex investments in other entities, and otherwise helping them with important strategic and operational matters.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Michaelson was associated with other New York law firms in a partner capacity. For several years he served as Vice President-Legal of McCrory Corporation, and then of Glen Alden Corporation, during which time he headed a corporate legal department of twenty-five lawyers.

Since 1951, Mr. Michaelson has authored and co-authored the Practicing Law volume which is now Michaelson & Blattmacher “Income Taxation of Estates and Trusts”. His earlier work with the American Law Institute became the basis of the income taxation of estates and trusts sections of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. He also has written a number of business and tax law-related articles in the Yale Law Journal and elsewhere and has lectured on those subjects.

Mr. Michaelson was a member of the Board of Directors of Amnesty International of the U.S.A. from 1972 to 1981, serving as Vice Chairman in 1977. During this period he represented Amnesty International on a committee of the United Nations.

Mr. Michaelson is a member of The Association of the Bar of the City of New York and American Bar Association (former Chairman, Subcommittee on Grantor Trusts, Committee on Income of Estates and Trusts, Section of Taxation; Section of Business Law). He enjoys an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
